TENNIS RESTARTS _ MONDAY 22nd JUNE

Re-opening Strategy – DPLTC – Phase One

This strategy is based on the guidance received from the Welsh Government, LTA and Tennis Wales. Their advice has been to work to their guides, but every club should create its own plan unique to its site.

THIS GUIDE IS FOR PHASE ONE. It is likely that restrictions will ease in phases as we ‘return towards normal’ but this will be staggered, possibly over several months and therefore this document will be continually reviewed, and any changes communicated to members.

As we have been restricted by legislation in this phase to:

  1. doubles where each pair is from the same household – ie. two households OR
  2. singles.

It has been agreed that members bookings be restricted at present to only twice per week as we monitor demand. This is to give an increased chance for more members being able to play.

THE OVER-RIDING ETHOS THROUGHOUT THIS DOCUMENT IS THAT EVERYONE STAYS SAFE

1. Access
2. Booking & Arrival
3. Clubhouse Facilities
4. On the Courts
5. Getting Home Safely

Question re-Restricted Play Strategy

Can I play tennis at the club while this strategy is in place? Yes – If you are a member ·  Members can book online for doubles play with each pair being from the same household – ie, two households can play each other  OR  singles play against another member. ·  Non-members will not have the opportunity to book online and cannot play with a member during this phase.
Can the clubhouse be opened?   ·   Only for first aid purposes, for the time being.
Are there any other things I should be aware of when playing? ·  You should not have any physical contact with any other player. ·  You should keep a distance of at least 2 metres from all other players. ·  You should consider your own safety and hygiene given the fact that more than one person may handle the tennis balls. It is advisable to use more than one set and clearly mark each set for each individual player to use their own balls to serve with. ·  You should return balls to other players using your racket or feet if possible. ·  You should read the LTA advice for players document – attached or via Tennis Wales Website ·  You need to enter and exit at the appropriate gate for your court.
What about non-members? ·  We are keeping this facility open for members only at this time.
All Non-member enquiries need to be directed to Chairman Phil Brooksby via email – brooksby@merlinman.co.uk.
Can I have a coaching lesson?   Yes ·  We have LTA accredited coaches with DBS checks, safeguarding experience and First Aid training. ·  Coaches are running 1:1 sessions, individual or household only at this time and they need to be contacted directly to book sessions. ·  They will coach to the latest LTA guidelines – you may find your session is very different to what you have experienced in the past.
Any questions?   Yes ·  Please email Chairman Phil Brooksby.
